What are the conditions that must be met for a marriage to be valid in Islam?

Marriage in Islam is a sacred contract between a man and a woman. For a marriage to be valid, several conditions must be met.

Essential Conditions

  • Consent: Both parties must freely consent to the marriage
  • Wali (Guardian): The bride must have a guardian who approves the marriage
  • Witnesses: At least two trustworthy witnesses must be present
  • Mahr (Dowry): The groom must give a mahr to the bride
  • Offer and Acceptance: There must be a clear offer and acceptance

These conditions protect the rights of both parties and ensure the marriage is conducted properly according to Islamic law.
