What is the ruling on someone who misses obligatory prayers? How should they make them up?

Prayer is the second pillar of Islam and one of the most important obligations. Missing prayers without a valid excuse is a serious matter.

Valid Excuses

Valid excuses for missing prayer include sleep and forgetfulness. In these cases, one should pray as soon as they remember or wake up.

Making Up Missed Prayers

If a prayer is missed due to a valid excuse, it should be made up as soon as possible. The missed prayer should be performed in the same manner as the original prayer, maintaining all its conditions and pillars.

Deliberately abandoning prayer is one of the gravest sins in Islam, and scholars have differed regarding its ruling, with some considering it an act of disbelief.
